KOCHI: Kerala HC stopped further proceedings in the case registered against actor Unni Mukundan for outraging the modesty of women. The actor earlier filed a plea to quash the FIR registered to the case. Unni Mukundan also informed the court about arriving at a compromising pact with the complainant woman.

According to the complaint, in 2017, Unni Mukanadan tried sexually assaulting the Kottayam native when she arrived for a film discussion. Ernakulam judicial first class magistrate earlier took her testimony. At present, while the case was moving through trial proceedings, Unni Mukundan appealed before the HC to end the proceedings.

In 2021, the actor's lawyer informed the court about the complainant agreeing to end the case for good. The court thus stayed the proceedings for two months. On August 2022, Unni’s team of lawyers again informed the court about compromising the issue with the Kottayam native.

However, in 2023 January, the complainant kicked up a controversy by denying any pact with the actor and terming the comprising deal as a sham. The court thus reopened the case and quashed Unni Mukundan’s request for wrapping the case.
