One killed, three injured in blast at Kanjikode steel factory 

PALAKKAD: There was a blast at Kanjikode Kairali Steel Factory Tuesday morning. One person was killed and three sustained injuries. The dead is Aravindan (22), an excavator operator and a native of Pathanamthitta. The condition of two of the injured is stated to be serious. More people are suspected to be trapped in the factory. The incident happened this morning at 6 am. The body of Aravindan has been completely burnt. The injured has been shifted to Palakkad district hospital.

Initial reports said the accident happened due to the explosion of the furnace. The fire has not been completely doused. Two of the injured are migrant labourers. The fire and rescue department are seeing whether anyone is trapped inside. This company works on late night shifts. There will be employees in the company till morning.
