THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Secretary V P Joy and State police chief Anil Kant retired from service on Friday. No big loaf of news, since tenure ends, officers retire, these are everyday things. However here, the news was shrouded, and never did it catch the media's eyes. CM Pinarayi Vijayan inside the Durbar hall gave a cue on the specialty of the day, raising many eyebrows. Never in Kerala's history have a chief secretary and state police chief retired on the same day. The retirement program was conducted in Darbar Hall in the presence of CM Pinarayi Vijayan. He remarked both the retiring officers as assiduous, as they worked in a way to not throw tantrums back at the government in the end, unlike their predecessors.

V P Joy was presented with a secretariat replica, while Anil Kant was handed lord Vishnu’s anantasayana replica as a farewell gift.
