THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Director Rajeev Ravi and actress Manju Warrier opted out of the committee formed to formulate a new film policy. Both Rajeev and Manju have informed Minister Saji Cherian about their inconvenience to be part of the plan. Earlier, prominent organizations such as WCC and the film chamber accused the haste in the forming of the committee, as they accused was done without any prior discussion.

Rajeev Ravi showed his angst about not informing him before including his name on the list. The director also expressed his disapproval of the government deciding on a separate panel to study the Hema Commission report.

“ All new draft laws on the new film policy will be discussed with all committee members. The final decision will happen only after the conclusion of the mega-conclave event scheduled. The mega conclave will see participation from light boys to film directors working in the field. It will be conducted within three months.” Minister Saji Cherian said.

Meanwhile, WCC has expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the sloth pace approach of government on the Hema Committee report. KSFDC also announced plans on conducting a detailed discussion with everyone in the film industry. The other members of the committee are director B. Unnikrishnan, producer Santosh T. Kuruvila, actors Mukesh, Padmapriya, and Nikhila Vimal.
