IRCTC goes down; money debited but no tickets

NEW DELHI: IRCTC mobile app and website went down on Tuesday confounding people who tried booking tickets. Due to technical glitches, the app and website stopped working from morning 8 am to noon 2 pm.

The app and website halted service only in the final stage of payment. Many people paid the money and received notification from the bank showing the money being debited from their account, but the tickets couldn’t be booked. A flurry of complaints reached social media after which IRCTC looked into the glitch.

IRCTC then requested passengers to make payments using e-wallets and use the AI-built 'Ask Disha' to book tickets.

The technical glitch in IRCTC was found in the payment gateway. After 2 pm the functioning was restored and IRCTC informed the same on their social media page.
