NEW DELHI: The Election Commission has sought an explanation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the alleged hate speech made at an election rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara. According to EC, the PM of India should explain at 11 am on April 29.

In another case, the election commission has also asked for an explanation from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding his surmises on India’s rise in poverty.

"What has been said in the Congress manifesto is raising concerns. This is an Urban naxal ideology. Once in power, the wealth of the country will be distributed to the infiltrators. That money will be distributed to those who have more children, This was PM Modi’s controversial speech.

PM Modi’s diatribe against Muslims while not mentioning them directly, received flak from many and left many others irate. On Wednesday evening, the election commission took cognizance of the speech made by the prime minister.

Allegations were rife about the prime minister violating the model code of conduct while similar questions were also raised against Rahul Gandhi for his botched-up facts about the poverty rise in India. Interestingly, the EC was not keen to take cognizance of the issue even after seeing big outrage over the PM’s Rajasthan speech.
