Vigilance first arrest tahsildar instead of surveyor in bribery case, realizes mistake and corrects it

KOZHIKODE: The vigilance team who came to arrest the taluk surveyor for accepting bribe, arrested the tahsildar first. The incident happened at the Thamarassery Taluk Office. The vigilance came to arrest the taluk surveyor Naseer, who had taken a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a native of Koodaranji, to conduct a survey on the land and the road. There was a confusion as the tahsildar and the surveyor wore the same color shirt.

After accepting bribe, Naseer came to attend the send off party of the tahsildar. The vigilance who came to arrest Naseer mistook the tahsildar and arrested him. However, after realizing the mistake, arrested the surveyor.

The complainant said that he first paid Naseer Rs 10,000 as bribe but only the land was surveyed and then he demanded another Rs 20,000 for the road survey. Vigilance DySP Sunil Kumar said they have received complaints against him earlier also.
