Basheer arrested for misbehaving with minor girl; 53-year-old is accused in several cases including attempted rape of elderly woman

PERUNAD: Police have arrested a 53-year-old man for misbehaving with a minor girl. Vadasserikkara native Basheer (Raghu) was arrested for verbally assaulting and misbehaving with a 17-year-old girl while she was returning home from school. The incident related to the case took place on Thursday. The police claim that Basheer is a culprit in several crimes, including an attempted rape of an elderly woman.

Basheer, who had gone into hiding, was taken into custody from a place near his home in Areekkakavu yesterday. He admitted to the crime after he was taken to the station and questioned in detail. The Perunad police had arrested him last year for breaking into the house of an elderly woman and attempting to sexually assault her. He is an accused in three other cases, including an Abkari case. The accused, who was produced in court, has been remanded. The accused was nabbed by the police team led by SI Raveendran Nair.
