MALAPPURAM: The post-mortem report of Tamir Jiffri, who died while in police custody in Tanur, is out. It is mentioned in the report that police beating was also the cause of death. The post-mortem report revealed that Tamir had been beaten up in custody. Tamir Jiffri had 21 wounds on his body. It was also found that there was edema in the lungs. The body also had several problems due to drug use.

Tamir Jiffri's family had approached the court demanding that the post-mortem report should be made available as soon as possible. The family is alleging that the ongoing probe in the case is unsatisfactory. According to the family, some other agency should investigate the case instead of the police. The family also submitted petitions to Chief Minister and Opposition Leader raising this demand. Eight policemen, including an ASI, were suspended in connection with the incident.
