THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An Air Raid Warning Communication System involving the Army will be soon set up in Kerala to alert the public in any emergency situation, including air strikes, and during natural calamities. The system will soon be implemented in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. It will be later implemented in other districts as well. It is the Fire Force that is setting up the warning system and control room.
The Air Raid Warning Communication System will be linked to the Southern Air Force Headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram and the Southern Naval Command in Kochi. The feature is that air and naval centers will be connected with the control rooms of fire force centers through hotlines. In case of emergency, the warning siren will sound continuously as per the instructions of the army. It will help the civil defense wing of the fire force to evacuate people and shift them to safer places. The warnings will be based on the natural disaster alerts received by the military.
15 lakhs for each
The Air Raid Warning Communication System is set up as per the instructions of the Central Government. The cost for one is 15 lakhs. The Centre will refund this amount later. Air raid warning communication system consists of communication systems, sirens, a computer network, hotline, and digital display panels. The system will be set up at the fire force stations at Chenkalchoola in Thiruvananthapuram and Gandhinagar in Kochi. Station house officers will be in charge.
