PATHANAMTHITTA: The Adoor Fast Track Special Court sentenced an accused to 60 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 360000 for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy. It was Special Court Judge A Sameer who sentenced Pannivizha native Prakash Kumar (43).
The incident took place in 2020. It was Prakash Kumar who helped the child's family to rent a house in Pannivizha. Taking advantage of his closeness with the family, he started sexually abusing the child at the rented house. He even sexually assaulted the boy at a hospital while the boy's mother underwent treatment there. During the investigation, it was found that the child was subjected to sexual abuse several times. In 2020, the accused barged into the house and attacked the family. The court pronounced that the accused will have to spend an additional three years and eight months in jail if he fails to pay the fine. The money that will be provided as a fine by the accused should be handed over to the victim, the judgement read. The punishment was awarded under the sections of unnatural rape, threatening, and POCSO.
