Opposing terrorism should not be politically motivated; S Jaishankar at UN

NEW YORK: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said opposing terrorism should not be politically motivated. He was speaking at the 78th Annual General Assembly of the United Nations, the foreign minister made an indirect reference against countries including Canada.

India strives for cooperation among nations at the global level. The measure of political will is how we respond to terrorism, violence and separatism. Diplomacy and negotiation are the best solutions. India supports the efforts of the UN for global solidarity. India wants cooperation with various countries. The External Affairs Minister said that growth and development should start from the bottom of the weak.

The G20 summit held in Delhi at a time when the world was estranged from each other proved that talks are the solution to everything. The African Union was made a permanent member of the G20 through India's efforts. This should inspire reform of the UN Security Council.
