IT raids DMK MP Jagathrakshakan's residence; Inspection in all 40 places linked to MP

CHENNAI: The Income Tax Department raids DMK MP S Jagathrakshakan's residence in Tamil Nadu. Inspection is going on in all 40 places linked to the MP. Jagathrakshakan is Arakonam MP and former Union Minister of State. Earlier, the Income Tax Department had conducted inspections at the houses of DMK leaders in Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, ED had arrested Tamil Nadu minister and AIADMK leader Senthil Balaji in a corruption case. Before joining the DMK, he was the transport minister in the AIADMK-led government from 2011 to 2015. The case is associated with corruption charges made during that time. Senthil Balaji, who was the Transport Minister at that time, illegally received money for the posts of driver, conductor, junior tradesman, junior assistant and junior engineer in the department. ED and CCB have filed a charge sheet against the minister. The ED's remand report also said that Senthil Balaji along with other accused had entered into a criminal conspiracy with the managing directors of state transport companies.
