BHOPAL: A person has been arrested with banned notes worth 47 lakhs. Sultan Karosiya believed in a sorcerer's claim that he could obtain new notes with the help of supernatural forces known as "jinn." He came forward with 500 and 1000 rupee notes. The police have initiated a search for the person claiming to have these supernatural powers.
Initially, the police suspected that these notes were being distributed in villages in the context of assembly elections. However, the truth emerged during Sultan's interrogation. Sultan who hails from Barokhar in Morena district stated that he had come across these currency notes approximately seven months before demonetization was introduced. He found them in a garbage dump and kept them hidden at home without informing anyone. Later, he learned about a person claiming to be a sorcerer who could exchange old notes for new ones with the assistance of a jinn. Believing in this, he prepared 41 bundles of 1000-rupee notes and 12 bundles of 500-rupee notes.
Sultan Karosiya was arrested during a routine police check, and his accomplice has also been taken into custody. The police stated that they received a tip-off regarding a person riding a motorcycle with bundles of these notes. After the accused could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the notes found in his possession, the crime branch team confiscated the notes and notified the Election Commission and the Income Tax Department.
