THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Khadi Village Industries Board has launched an online community for Khadi enthusiasts called the ‘Khadi Lovers Network.’ Members of this association can create and sell their own Khadi clothing designs with support from the Khadi board.
P. Jayarajan, the Vice Chairman of the Khadi board, announced in a press conference that Khadi village industry products can now also be sold online. This initiative provides opportunities for housewives and students to earn income by becoming association members. Beyond business, this platform can be used to set new fashion trends. However, only fabric products purchased from the Khadi Board can be distributed through this network.
Members of the association will receive a 13 percent margin from the board. The association will also be officially registered with the Khadi Board. Jayarajan mentioned that they are considering the development of a Khadi mobile app for online Khadi product sales. It's essential to note that all aspects of the network are under the control of the Khadi Board. Designers are required to source their fabric exclusively from Khadi.
