Rank list expires in six months, not even 25 percent of candidates on CPO rank list received appointment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With only six months remaining before the Civil Police Officer Rank List expires, not even 25% of the appointments have been made. Out of 13,975 people included in the rank lists in 7 battalions, only 3,019 people have been appointed so far.

Candidates who were 'filtered' through the two-stage examination were included in the rank list. Hence, the candidates had the hope that everyone on the list would get appointment. However, candidates are now worried as there is no progress in the appointment even after six months. There is no guarantee how many will be appointed in the remaining six months.

There is a constant complaint that there are not enough policemen in the force. Two years ago, the state police chief asked for 795 posts to strengthen the highway patrol. However, nothing was done to create these posts. It is alleged that the financial crisis is a hindrance to the creation of the post. The government's announcement that police outposts will be established to strengthen security in government hospitals in the face of continuing attacks on health workers has also become a line drawn on water. If the government takes a sympathetic stance on both these, many candidates who are on the rank list will get appointed.
