NEW DELHI: Harshita Jayaram won a gold medal in the 37th National Games yesterday with a record. Muhammad Anees became Kerala's first gold medalist in athletics. Harshita won the gold in record speed by finishing in 2 minutes 40.62 seconds in the women's 200m breaststroke. Although Harshita was brought up in Karnataka, her mother is from Palakkad. Muhammad Anees won the gold by jumping 8.15 metres in the men's long jump. Sajan Prakash won silver in the 1500m freestyle yesterday despite physical ailments. In women's 400m, PT Usha's disciple Jisna Mathew won bronze.
