JAIPUR: Congress leader Sachin Pilot is separated from his wife Sara Abdullah, a poll affidavit revealed on Tuesday. In the nomination papers submitted to contest the Rajasthan assembly elections, in the column meant to enter the spouse's name, Sachin wrote: “ divorced”.
Sachin married Sara Abdullah in 2004. Sara is the daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Farooq Abdullah. Sara and Abdullah met in London and fell in love. Albeit being family friends, the Pilots and Abdullahs resented the marriage and took opposition to the relationship.
Being from Kashmir, the Abdullahs were staunch Muslims and found it difficult to easily allow inter-faith marriage of their daughter. It was after much hurdle that the two married in 2004. The couple have two sons Aran and Vehaan.
Elections in Rajasthan are scheduled for November 25th. In Tong consistency, where Sachin is about to contest, BJP has not yet fielded their candidate. In 2018, Sachin won by 54,179 votes from this same consistency. Later he became Deputy Chief Minister.
