THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Culture Minister Saji Cherian has announced that linguistic historian and critic Prof SK Vasanthan is this year's recipient of the Ezhuthachan Award. The award includes a cash prize of five lakh rupees, a certificate and a plaque. The selection committee chaired by Dr Anil Vallathol and comprising Dr Dharmaraj Adat, Dr Khadija Mumtaz, Dr P Soman and Member Secretary CP Abubakar made this decision.
The committee stated that SK Vasanthan's written works have garnered significant attention. His books such as "Dictionary of Kerala Samskara Charithra Nikhandu," "Nammal nadanna vazhikal," "Padinjaaran Kavyameemamsa" and "Sahithya Samvadangal" are valuable resources for scholarly literature. "Kalam Sakshi" provides a profound and impressive reading experience marking Kerala's multifaceted social renewal. Vasanthan was chosen for the Ezhutachchan award in recognition of his outstanding contributions as a teacher, speaker and research mentor.
