Maoists and Thunderbolt team engage in gun battle in Wayanad, two in custody

WAYANAD: Maoists and the Thunderbolt squad clashed in the Thalapuzha Periya area in Wayanad. After the incident, more Thunderbolt team members reached the spot. A strong security deployment has been implemented in the region. Unconfirmed reports claim that two Maoists have been taken into custody. The ones in custody are reportedly Chandru and Unnimaya. Reports also claim that Unnimaya has been shot.

The Thunderbolt team had caught a Maoist-linked person from the forest area on the Wayanad-Kozhikode border. He was interrogated by the Thunderbolt team at a secret facility. The person who passed the information to the Maoists in the forest was arrested. The encounter took place while collecting more information related to him.
