THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P G doctors of the state will go on a 24-hour strike today. The strike is led by the joint action committee. P G medical, dental students and house surgeons are staging the strike.
The functioning of all government medical college hospitals in the state will be totally disrupted as postgraduate medical students are on strike boycotting all hospital duties including emergency services.
The doctors will boycott all services including casualty from 8 am today to 8 am tomorrow. The doctors demand includes a hike in stipend, to relax the compulsory bond of PG students and to increase senior resident seats. The PG doctors also demanded that the committee formed to study the issues should be made operational. The hospital services will be partially disrupted as the resident doctors are participating in the strike.
