KALAMASSERY: In a shocking incident driven by revenge over job termination, a former gold appraiser stormed into a bank and hacked a woman manager in front of her colleagues. The attack took place at 7:10 PM last night at the Union Bank branch in Manjummel, Eloor.
Indukrishna (35), Assistant Manager and a native of Anandabhavan, Mavelikkara, sustained serious injuries. Several fingers on her right hand were nearly severed, and she also suffered injuries to her cheek and face.
The attacker, Senthilkumar (44) from Pathazhaparambu, Kodungallur, had been dismissed from his job six months ago. He forcibly entered the bank and attacked Indukrishna suddenly, leaving the victim and other female staff members fleeing in panic to save their lives. While other employees tried to intervene, Senthilkumar locked himself inside the staff restroom, where he cut the nerves on both his hands and inflicted self-injuries on his abdomen in a suicide attempt. Eloor Police arrived on the scene, broke open the door, and pulled him out.
Indukrishna was rushed to a nearby private hospital for first aid and later shifted to Aster Medcity for further treatment. Senthilkumar was initially taken to Manjummal Hospital and later transferred to Kalamassery Medical College.
Reportedly, Senthilkumar was a habitual drunk who frequently missed work. Due to prolonged absenteeism, he was replaced. Holding Indukrishna responsible for his dismissal, he carried out the brutal attack.
