Kerala Govt again in Supreme Court against Governor; Second plea in one week

-arif-mohammad-khan

NEW DELHI: The state government has once again approached the Supreme Court against Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. A special sanction petition was filed against the Governor for delaying the decision on the bills passed by the Assembly. This is the second petition to be filed within a week. The request is to make the governor a party in the case.

The special permission petition has been filed by the state chief secretary and state law secretary. Delaying the decision on the bills is a gross injustice by the governor to the people and the members of the assembly, the state government's petition said.

Earlier, the Kerala government had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court alleging that the Governor was delaying the decision on the bills passed by the Assembly. The government had pointed out that due to the delay in signing the bills, the work of the state government was being hampered and the Governor's action was unconstitutional. The petition states that the governor has not taken a decision on the eight bills passed by the assembly and this action is unconstitutional. Chief Secretary and Perambra MLA TP Ramakrishnan are the petitioners. The opposite parties are the Governor, Raj Bhavan Additional Chief Secretary and the Central Government.
