20 injured in bus-lorry collision on state highway, both vehicles damaged in accident

MALAPPURAM: 20 people were injured in an accident after a private bus and a tipper lorry collided on the state highway. The accident happened at Pallipadi near KINFRA Park on Kuttipuram State Highway. The incident happened Sunday morning at 7 am.

The private bus going to Thrissur from Kozhikode collided with the tipper lorry coming from the opposite direction. Both vehicles sustained damages.


The police and the locals conducted the rescue operations. No one sustained serious injuries. The injured have been admitted to the Kuttipuram taluk hospital and a private hospital in Kottakkal.


The accident happened where the construction work of the flyover is going on at Pallipadi. The locals said due to this, more accidents happen in the area.

Meantime, a pregnant woman died in a collision between a two-wheeler and a lorry in Malappuram itself yesterday. The woman has been identified as Priji (31). The accident happened in front of the UP School in Malappuram Chanthakunnu at around 12 noon yesterday.

Priji was traveling with her husband Sudheesh in his two-wheeler. Reports said the two-wheeler they were traveling in collided with the lorry while trying to overtake it. Priji slipped under the lorry.


The two seriously injured were first taken to Nilambur District Hospital and given first aid and then shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital where they died.
