India's star player Virat Kohli became the batter with the most number of centuries in One Day Internationals as he scored his 50th ODI century in the World Cup semi-final match against New Zealand at the Wankhede stadium today. Virat broke Sachin Tendulkar's 49-century record, and he did so in the presence of the Master Blaster.
Now Sachin Tendulkar has written a heartfelt note about this rare achievement of Kohli. In his note shared on social media, Sachin recollected the first time he saw Kohli in the Indian dressing room and how that boy then grew up to become a great batter. He also wrote that Virat Kohli touched his heart with his passion and skill. Further, Sachin expressed his immense happiness at another Indian breaking his record.
'The first time I met you in the Indian dressing room, you were pranked by other teammates into touching my feet. I couldn’t stop laughing that day. But soon, you touched my heart with your passion and skill. I am so happy that that young boy has grown into a ‘Virat’ player. I couldn’t be happier that an Indian broke my record. And to do it on the biggest stage - in the World Cup Semi-Final - and at my home ground is the icing on the cake,' Sachin wrote.
