Progress in condition of woman shot at by husband in US, subjected to three surgeries, fetus dies

CHICAGO: There is a slight progress in the condition of the woman shot at by her husband in the USA. The woman identified as Meera of Uzhavoor Kunnampadavil, who sustained serious injuries is undergoing treatment at Lutheran hospital in Illinois. She was two months pregnant. The fetus died following severe bleeding, informed the doctors. She was subjected to three surgeries.

She was shot at by her husband Amal Reji following family issues. The Chicago police have arrested Amal Reji, a native of Ettumanoor. He shot her twice. He shot her at close range near her eye and her rib.

She was shot on Tuesday night at 10 pm in the courtyard of a church near Chicago. The police reached the spot immediately and rushed Meera to the hospital in an ambulance. The official report over his arrest and further procedures is likely to be released today.

The couple got married in 2019. They have a three-year-old son. Many Malayalees reached the hospital knowing the incident. Meera’s twin sister Meenu is also in the US and both are nurses.
