Police refuse to take seriously injured accident victims to hospital, leaves spot after directing locals to take 

accident

IDUKKI: In a shocking incident, a police team was found refusing to take two seriously injured accident victims to the hospital. The incident took place at Pallikkavala in Kattappana on Saturday night. The CCTV footage of the incident has come out.

Kanchiyar native Jibin Biju (21) and Irattayar native Akhil Antony (23) sustained serious injuries after their bike collided with a pick-up van. The two were returning home on a bike after having food from Pallikkavala when the pick-up van hit the bike.

The policemen reached the spot in the jeep while the locals were helping the youths. Despite the locals' requests, the police declined to drive the young people to the hospital in the jeep. The policemen left the spot after telling locals to take the two to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw. Following this, the locals took the injured youths to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw.

The policemen were returning to Nedunkandam station after taking an accused to Peermade sub-jail. It is reported that there were two policemen in the jeep. Akhil, who sustained head injuries, was later shifted to Rajagiri Hospital. Kattappana DySP VA Nishad Mon said that he would conduct an investigation into the incident and submit a report to the district police chief the next day.
