NEW DELHI: It has been revealed that a recent viral garba dance video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not artificially generated. The controversies over the video came to an end after Vikas Mahante, a Mumbai native and a doppelganger of Modi, revealed that it was he who appeared in the dance video.
Vikas Mahante said that it was saddening that the Prime Minister mistook the video as a deepfake one. Vikas Mahante, who is famous for his resemblance to Modi, has many fans. The dance took place on Diwali when he arrived at the invitation of the Gujarati community in London.
"I danced after they compelled me to participate in the Garba dance. That's what went viral and was mistaken for a deep fake," Vikas said. However, Vikas Mehnte is happy that his resemblance to Modi has been recognised.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that he had seen a fake video of him performing garba dance, an art form of Gujarat. "I used to dance garba during school days. I haven't danced since then. Someone has made a deepfake video of me performing garba dance. People who love me are forwarding the video," Modi said.
