KANNUR: The chief minister and the ministers held a cabinet meeting yesterday at Pearl View, a private hotel in Thalassery. A four-star hotel near Thalassery town was considered as everyone had come to Kannur for the Nava Kerala Sadas. Chief minister, ministers and chief secretary Dr V Venu attended the meeting held in the board room of the hotel.

The first agenda in the meet was the assessment of Nava Kerala Sadas. It became a huge success when it reached two districts. The chief minister said that it is disturbing the opposition. ‘People have taken it up. Complaints received should be resolved in a timely manner. An action plan should be prepared for this. Redressal of grievances should not be delayed. This should be supervised by the ministers and the chief secretary. The chief minister said the opposition, upset by the victory of the Nava Kerala Sadas, will adopt many methods to destroy it’. We saw that in Kannur. The cabinet meeting also approved the waste disposal project in Kochi. Although the cabinet meeting has been held outside Thiruvananthapuram before in emergency situations, this is the first time that a full cabinet meeting with the chief minister and ministers has been held outside the capital. The chief minister participated in the meeting with joy.

Former MLA Karunagappally had passed away the other day. Ministers G R Anil and J Chinchurani who went to attend his funeral, reached Kannur on Tuesday night. Cabinet meetings are held outside the capital in government guesthouses or rest houses of the public works department. There was a rest house in Thalassery, but it was not considered.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed displeasure at the organization of the Nava Kerala Sadas in Mattannur constituency. The chief minister indirectly criticized K K Shailaja MLA for presiding and speaking for a long time and openly said that the event in Mattanur did not seem like a big event. The president, who constantly see the people here, felt that she should speak more. That time was a bit longer. Though there are 21 people in the Nava Kerala Sadas, only three are allowed to speak. That arrangement fell short here. Therefore, the chief minister said that the remaining time is being reduced.

During a friendly conversation with K Bhaskaran, husband of K K Shailaja and former chairman of Mattanur Municipal Corporation, the chief minister mentioned in his speech that the event in Mattanur is not a big event. When Bhaskaran Mash asked how the event was, he expected a reply that it was a big event. However, the chief minister said that he replied that he did not think this was a big event as he had seen many big events.
