VADAKARA (KOZHIKODE): Vadakara Muttungal resident AK Yusuf has stated that he is sticking to the complaint filed at Navakerala Sadas against Port Minister Ahmad Devarkovil regarding money fraud. He said that he has hope in the Chief Minister. However, the Chief Minister's response was that he had not seen the complaint against the minister. The Chief Minister told the media that as the matter is proceeding legally, the answer and decision in that regard belongs to the court. The chief minister added that at present the minister is not involved in the case and he came to know that the minister has nothing to do with it.
The case is related to taking Rs. 50 lakhs on the pretense of making the complainant a partner in a firm in Mancheri, which manufactures goods for railways. Ahammad Devarkovil, the third accused in the case, also faced trial in the court.
The court sentenced three accused including him to two years imprisonment. The Kozhikode Special Additional Sessions Court, which considered the appeal, quashed the prison sentence of Ahmad Devarkovil and upheld the order to pay a fine of Rs 63 lakh, but the fine was not paid and the co-accused were not arrested. The explanation of the minister is that he has no connection with the company and is not personally liable and the case is under the consideration of the court.
Earlier, the complainant had given a complaint to the Chief Minister through e-mail. After receiving no reply, a complaint was filed in the Navakerala Sadas.
