kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The birth rate in Kerala is falling sharply due to the change in the outlook and life concepts of the youth. The government figures said while 5,60,268 children were born in 2011, only 4,19,767 were born in 2021. There was a decrease of 25.077 percent.

When there was a decrease of 46 % in Ernakulam, there was a drop of 37 % in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kannur. Those under 30 are less likely to seek infertility treatment and more likely to have an abortion.

While one section thinks that a baby is enough to get a government job, another section avoids pregnancy to go abroad. With this, in the next ten years, the new generations will decrease significantly in Kerala.

In 2011, there was a big increase in the birth rate in Kerala, but then it gradually reduced. In 2019, it reached 4,80,113. Came down sharply in 2021. In the last 10 years, there has been a decrease in the number of babies born in all the districts.

Baby and immigration
1. With the migration to western countries and settlement, the birth rate here is decreasing.
2. Financial security is prioritized. There is an increase in the thinking that one baby is enough. There are people who don’t want babies
3. There are couples thinking of babies slowly

Repercussions
1. Adults will have to lead isolated lives
2. Unoccupies houses will rise
3. Family concept will be rocked. People aim at gaining wealth.
