Vellappally Nadesan's decades-long stewardship uplifts Sree Narayana trust and community

Renowned for his unwavering commitment to Sree Narayana Gurudev's principles, R Sankar's transformation under Gurudev's guidance marked the genesis of an era. The last 25 years have proven to be a milestone in the annals of the Sree Narayana Trust, catalyzed by the leadership of Vellappalli Nadesan. His unparalleled role in steering the Trust and nurturing Gurudev's vision through the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam has been pivotal.

Securing an unchallenged 10th consecutive term as the Trust's beacon, Nadesan reaffirms his stature as an indomitable warrior and an undisputed leader.

Reflecting on the Trust's past, the receivership in the '90s stands as a grim chapter marred by power struggles and negligence. Vellappally Nadesan, a prominent business figure then, spearheaded efforts to emancipate the Trust from receivership and legal entanglements. His ascent to the Secretary's role in the 1996 elections, backed by Saswathikananda Swami's endorsement, subsequently led him to become the General Secretary of the Yogam.

Transitioning from an industrial background to the Sree Narayana movement drew skepticism, yet Nadesan's unwavering determination, organizational prowess and valour eclipsed dissent. His tenure witnessed a transformative surge, resonating not just within the community but also within the political corridors.

The trajectory of the Sree Narayana movement underwent a revolutionary phase under Vellappally's stewardship. His tenure witnessed remarkable expansion in educational institutions surging from around fifty to an impressive count of 143 establishments. This included aided colleges, self-supporting colleges, higher secondary schools, law and nursing colleges and the notable Shankar's Institute of Medical Sciences. Additionally, his leadership facilitated the acquisition of 27 acres of land, initially procured by R. Shankar for the establishment of an SN Trust college.

Beyond institutional growth, Vellappally Natesan's advocacy centered on social justice and the upliftment of marginalized communities. His journey epitomized perseverance against adversity, guided solely by Gurudev's principles.
