Abduction case in Oyoor: Loan of Rs 20000 helped police to trace accused, this is how three were arrested

KOLLAM: The crucial information provided by Abdul Samad, a congress activist and a native of Kannanalloor, helped the police to trace the accused in the child abduction case in Oyoor. When the police were groping in the dark without getting any clues, this information helped them to reach the accused.

The voice of the woman who called the child's house on the night of November 27 seeking ransom after the abduction, was circulated on social media. This voice was sent to Kudumbashree’s CDS WhatsApp group to identify it.

As it sounded like a familiar voice, they once again listened to the WhatsApp voice message sent by another woman, a neighbour, asking a loan of Rs 20,000.

After realizing that the two voices were the same, the woman sent both messages to the WhatsApp of Abdul Samad, a leader she knew. Samad forwarded these messages to former circle inspector of Kannanallur and present circle inspector of Ayiroor near Varkala.

The police then examined these voice messages and realized that the two were one and the same. The woman in the voice was identified as the voice of Anitha
Kumari, a bakery owner in Chathannoor and wife of Padma Kumar. The police found a white Swift Desire car lying inside Padma Kumar's house while investigating the neighbours near his house. The police understood from the locals that the sketch was very similar to Padma Kumar. The police then returned from there. Soon the family fled from the house. The investigation team got Padma Kumar's phone number from the locals and after monitoring the mobile tower, found that the three were in Tamil Nadu and nabbed them from Puliyara.
