CHENNAI: Actor Mansoor Ali Khan who courted controversy for his crass comments on actress Trisha is back in the news again. Ali Khan has now approached the Madras High Court with a defamation case against prominent actors including Trisha, Khushbu Sundar and Chiranjeevi.
In the petition, Mansoor Ali Khan has also demanded that they pay a compensation of Rs.1 crore each. According to Mansoor Ali Khan, his comments that were meant to be witty were heinously twisted and were propagated as misogynistic by certain sections. Ali Khan also said that those critiquing him haven’t seen the entire video. After the issue blew up, Mansoor Ali Khan apologised to Trisha while the actress vowed not to ever act with him again.
In his discourteous comment, Mansoor said he had hoped to do a bedroom scene with Trisha in 'Leo', but later learned that he had no combination scene with her. This ignited a social media conundrum with many including prominent actors coming in support of Trisha and outrightly bashing Mansoor.
The police had filed a case on the recommendation of the National Commission for Women, which had voluntarily intervened in the incident, but when Trisha said that she did not want to proceed with the case, the police stopped the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Trisha recently fell at odds with netizens after she supported Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' movie which was criticized by many as uncouth and toxic. Many deplored her comments and said she played double standards when it came to taking stands on feminism.
