Nayanthara, Vignesh Sivan criticized for working with sexual assault choreographer Jani Master 

CHENNAI: Director Vignesh Sivan and his actress wife Nayanthara are being harshly criticized on social media for working with Jani Master, a choreographer accused for sexually assaulting a minor. Many questioned the couple for giving chance to the talented offender. Jani Master is the choreographer of Vignesh Sivan’s Love Insurance Kompany. Vignesh Sivan had re-shared an Instagram story announcing Jani Master’s involvement in his film.

Jani Master and Sivan had shared a social media post on July 1st. It was a photo and candid video from the shooting location. Jani shared the post ‘Candid & crazy with the dearest #vigneshshivan sir on the sets of #loveinsurancekompany. It’s always a joy working with you for the care, respect, and trust you shower on me, sir. Can’t wait to show the magic we created.’ After this post became viral, many criticised Vignesh. Nayanthara, the producer of the film, was also criticised.

An X user wrote, “There’s a reason people are losing respect for Vignesh Shivan. First it was Dileep. Now it's Jani Master. Keep calling accused predators a vibe and we see exactly where you stand. And #Nayanthara is just okay with it? Some ‘power couple’.”

Singer Chinmayi wrote, ‘Jani is out on conditional bail involving a minor’s sexual assault. We as a people seem to love ‘talented’ offenders and will keep promoting them and keeping them in positions of power which the offenders use to harangue the women more - “See nothing will happen to me.” It is just how we are. Sweeeeeet!"

Johnny Master sexually assaulting a junior colleague, a minor, came to light in September 2024. He was arrested under the POCSO Act and later released on conditional bail. Following his arrest, the national award for Best Choreography for the song 'Megam Karukkatha' from Dhanush and Nithya Menen's film ‘Thiruchitrambalam' was revoked. Meantime, Nayanthara and Vignesh have not yet responded to the issue.
