Chouhan shown the door, Mohan Yadav to be next Madhya Pradesh CM

BHOPAL: Ending the long suspense about BJP’s inability to pick up a CM face in Madhya Pradesh, the leadership opted for Ujjain Dakshin MLA Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister of the state, raising many eyebrows. Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan moved away from the race after he admitted to the BJP top brass about not wanting another term at the helm. The CM pick comes after nearly two weeks of ambiguity.

Jagdish Deora and Rajesh Shukla will assume the office as the new deputy CM in Madhya Pradesh. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has been appointed as Speaker. Shivraj Singh Chouhan is currently not assigned any designations. Meanwhile, there is a silent rebellion within the BJP for the party leadership sidelining the mighty Chouhan.

According to supporters, it is Chouhan’s ‘Ladli Behna Ladli Laxmi' scheme, that gave the necessary mileage for BJP to wrest power in MP. Chouhan also deftly orchestrated the campaign in MP that ensured a landslide victory for the saffron party, shattering the optimism of the Congress. Chouhan now 65, is popularly known among people as Mama( maternal uncle). In the recent poll campaigning, Chouhan was seen embracing people while he also worked out an emotional connection with the populace. In today's function held in Bhopal, Chouhan patted the newly elected Yadav and praised him as a strong worker of the party.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narendra Singh Tomar, OBC leader Prahlad Patel, national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, and party state president V. D. Sharma were a few names that the party considered for the CM seat.
