Paramour visits mom of three during wee hours after receiving her call, gets critically injured

PATNA: In Bihar's Vaishali district, a woman was arrested for throwing acid at her lover who refused to marry her. The critically injured Dharmendra Kumar (22), is undergoing treatment at the hospital. A woman named Sarita Kumari (24) was taken into custody by the police. During interrogation, Saritha confessed to having committed the crime in connivance with another man and a search was launched to nab him.

The attack took place this morning. Saritha called and said that she wanted to meet Dharmendra at 2 am. He reached the woman's house within some time. After talking for a while, Dharmendra was about to leave when the woman poured acid on his face. Dharmendra has said in his statement to the police that there was a man with the woman when the incident took place. Locals rushed him to a private hospital in Hajipur after hearing the screams.

Vaishali police superintendent Ravi Ranjan Kumar said that Dharmendra and Sarita were in love for the last five months. Saritha, a mother of three children, got divorced some time ago. Saritha told the police that she was angry because Dharmendra was not interested in marrying her and had fixed his marriage with another girl. She also testified that the acid was poured to disfigure his face.

An FIR has been registered against both the accused under IPC Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (criminal conspiracy).
