KOTTAYAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the Governor should understand the importance of his post and take a stand accordingly. The chief minister said what the government is doing is not an extravaganza and the governor should understand who is doing it. The chief minister said the Governor should think whether the things he is doing after sitting in the post is right. The chief minister said this while addressing the press meet convened in Kottayam during Nava Kerala Sadas.
The government had sanctioned Rs 220 crore in the last seven years after including in Sabarimala Master Plan.
The government gave assistance of Rs 467 crore including to various devaswom board temples of the state affected by Covid. Rs 144 crore was given to Travancore Devaswom Board. He explained that Rs 16 lakh was given to Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts for cleaning activities during the Sabarimala season.
Sabarimala is a national pilgrimage Centre. There is heavy rush here during the mandala season. Uncontrolled increase in rush can cause some accidents beyond our control. So, should handle it with care. Pilgrims are allowed to climb the steps after seeing the rush of devotees in Sannidhanam.
The average number of pilgrims increased to 88,000 in four days from December 6, while the average was 62,000 in the first days of the last mandala season. Sabarimala, a national pilgrimage center, is visited in large numbers by people from outside the state. People, who were not able to come in the early days due to floods in Chennai and Telangana elections are now coming in crowds. He clarified that after understanding this, the darshan time has been increased by an hour.
