Parliament attack; Delhi Police trying to find terrorist link

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police said that the Parliament attack that shocked the country was similar to a terrorist attack and that it would investigate to find if the attack had any connection with any terrorist organization.

Considering the demand of the Delhi police seeking custody of the accused for further questioning, Delhi court Special Judge Hardeep Kaur sent four of the accused (Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan, Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde) to police custody for 7 days. Vicky is the fifth among those arrested.

Meanwhile, the mastermind of the incident, Kolkata native Lalit has surrendered before the police. According to reports, Jha himself reached the Karthavya Path police station and surrendered before the police. The Centre is silent on how Manoranjan and Sagar Sharma got BJP MP Pratap Sinha's pass to enter the House. Meanwhile,15 opposition MPs were suspended for creating a ruckus in the Lok Sabha demanding Pratap's suspension and Amit Shah's explanation regarding the security breach. Six MPs from Kerala are among those suspended till the end of the current session. They are Benny Behanan, VK Sreekandan, TN Prathapan, Hibi Eden, Ramya Haridas and Dean Kuriakos.

On Wednesday, six people breached the security in and outside Parliament in the name of a Facebook group named Bhagat Singh Fan Club. Police have registered a case under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (UAPA). Charges of criminal conspiracy and trespassing were also imposed on the accused.

Meanwhile, six officials of the Delhi Police and two officials of the Lok Sabha Secretariat were suspended in the name of the security breach. Security has been beefed up in and around Parliament.
