Family disputes verdict acquitting accused in Vandiperiyar murder case, vows to appeal for justice

PEERUMEDU: The family of the murdered six-year-old girl in Vandiperiyar expresses distress over the court's acquittal of the accused. Both the mother and grandmother express disbelief having expected a different outcome. The accused, who had confessed to the crime despite its delay, now walks freely prompting public outrage demanding justice to prevent such tragedies from recurring.

The family insists on pursuing an appeal as they stand unwavering in their belief that the culprit should be incarcerated. They emphasize the importance of serving justice to prevent other mothers from experiencing similar heartbreaking losses in the future.

The father of the victim asserts that the police appeared to support the accused and highlights the absence of the Scheduled Castes - Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act in the case. Allegations include a lack of responsiveness from authorities despite efforts made through formal channels including contacting the MLA of Peerumedu.

The Special Prosecutor, Adv Sunil Maheshwaran Pillai expresses dissatisfaction with the court's interpretation of testimony asserting that crucial prosecution points were overlooked in the verdict. He plans to file an appeal promptly pointing out discrepancies in the judgment regarding the flawed investigation claims.

However, the investigating officer, TD Sunil Kumar rebuts allegations of evidence mishandling insisting that experts including fingerprint analysts and scientific professionals were diligently present during the investigation. The police stand firm in their stance maintaining that the accused Arjun is indeed the culprit.
