THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An order has been issued to provide special security for the houses of the Chief Minister's gunman and escort policeman who beat up Youth Congress workers in Alappuzha. Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner C H Nagaraju issued the order after reports claimed that the houses of the gunman Anil Kumar and policeman Sandeep were likely to be attacked by Youth Congress workers.
On Friday, Youth Congress workers, who waved black flags at the Chief Minister's Nava Kerala bus in Alappuzha, were beaten up by the CM's gunman and escort policemen. The visuals of the incident and the pictures of Anil Kumar and Sandeep were widely circulated on social media. The order to provide special security to the houses of both of them was issued in the wake of this. Special security will be provided to Anil's houses in Peroorkada and Kalliyoor and Sandeep's house in Pottakkuzhi.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out during the protest march organised by the Youth Congress towards the houses of gunman Anil Kumar and Escort Policeman Sandeep. The police resorted to lathi-charge after the Youth Congress workers, who marched towards Sandeep's house pelted stones at them. The police also used a water cannon three times at the Youth Congress workers after they tried to overturn the barricade set up for security near the house. CPM workers have also gathered at the place. District presidents of Youth Congress and KSU were injured in the lathi-charge.
