KOZHIKODE: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan criticized the chief minister and the government. The chief minister is not allowing the police to perform their duties, the Governor said while speaking to the media at the University of Calicut campus. He got into the vehicle saying that he no longer needs the security of the police and left without telling where he was going. The entire city of Kozhikode is now surrounded by the police. The governor reached Mananchira and visited the Mithai Street.
The Governor said: "I had served as the home minister. Kerala has one of the best police forces in the country. All systems have some problems. However, the police system in Kerala is the best. I don't blame them in any way. The government is not allowing them to perform their duties. I was attacked at three places in Thiruvananthapuram. The police intervened only in the third place and that too when I got out of the car.
I have clarified to the police that I don’t need any security anymore. If they want to attack me, let them come directly. If the police are kept away from me, the chief minister himself will tell the SFIs to end the protest. The reason is he has a good understanding of the consequences that will follow. Only the SFIs are protesting. The people of Kerala love me. Everyone knows who is behind the attacks in Kannur. '
