LAHORE: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif said that neither India nor US is behind the economic crisis in Pakistan. He said we shot ourselves in our own foot. He was speaking at an event related to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
'In fact, we shot ourselves in our own foot. The military overthrew the elected government by rigging the 2018 elections. The reason behind the suffering of the people and the collapse of the economy was the support of the military dictators by the judges. When they violate the Constitution, judges legalize it. Nawaz Sharif asked, "Why did the judges accept the dissolution of Parliament?"
The Islamabad High Court acquitted Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia Steel Mill corruption case last week. With this, Nawaz will lead the party in the upcoming elections. 73-year-old Sharif was sentenced to seven years in prison and a fine by an anti-corruption court in December 2018 after he could not convince the court that he was not involved with the steel mill his father founded in 2001. He was also acquitted in the Avenfield graft case where he was convicted in July 2018 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was also acquitted in the Flagship corruption case in 2018.
