THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the past 24 hours, Kerala witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases with 265 new infections reported contributing to a total of 2606 active cases in the state. Unfortunately, one person has succumbed to the virus as per the Ministry of Health's latest update.
Nationally, there has been an uptick in cases, totalling 328 new infections with Kerala alone accounting for 265 of them. Across the country, active cases stand at 2997 presently.
The Central Health Department has issued a cautionary advisory, emphasizing vigilance as the new year approaches and COVID cases increase. Yesterday, the country recorded 358 new cases and three additional fatalities.
In neighbouring Karnataka, 105 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed. The central government has advised collaborative efforts between the center and states to combat the disease effectively. They emphasized the importance of monitoring symptomatic individuals and providing timely treatment to severe cases. Moreover, increased inspections have been encouraged, as highlighted in a high-level meeting led by the Union Minister.
