THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Youth Congress leader was seriously injured after the CM's escort vehicle ran over his feet. The accident took place after the Youth Congress workers unexpectedly jumped in front of the convoy with black flags as the Chief Minister and his team were travelling to participate in the Nava Kerala Sadas in the Kattakada constituency. It was Kattakkada Block General Secretary Ansala Das who sustained a fracture on his leg.

Youth Congress workers alleged that the security officials deliberately ran the escort vehicle over Ansala Das's legs. He was admitted to the hospital and has undergone surgery. The Congress workers also said that the DYFI activists, who reached the spot, attacked Ansala Das after he was run over by the escort vehicle.

Ansala Das' foot was seriously injured. He is undergoing treatment at SP Fort Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The Youth Congress alleged that the police tried to kill the activist for waving the black flag at the ministers. DYFI workers had attacked Youth Congress workers with sticks soon after the convoy passed. The Congress alleged that the injured Ansala Das was also beaten up by the DYFI workers.
