Conceals delivery, body of newborn in bucket; woman seeking treatment for bleeding in Thrissur under police surveillance

THRISSUR: A newborn baby was found dead in a bucket in the bathroom. The incident happened at Adat in Thrissur. The baby’s mother told police that its death is natural. However, the police said that an autopsy will be required to find the cause of death.


The 42-year-old woman, who concealed the delivery, sought treatment for bleeding at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital the other day. Doctors found that she was pregnant and had delivered a baby while treating her. The hospital officials then informed the police.


When the police went to her house and examined, found the body of the newborn in the bucket. The postmortem will be conducted today. The woman, a divorcee had hidden her pregnancy and delivery. She has an 18-year-old son. The woman undergoing treatment is under police surveillance.
