Malabar Milma to give job priority to Dairy farmers' children; major reform under consideration

milma

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A proposal is being made to give preference to children and dependents of dairy farmers in recruitment to various posts in Milma. The proposal will be applied to all vacancies from the Managing Director and below. Malabar Milma’s decision will be implemented by giving weightage marks in competitive exams.

The decision approved by the general meeting is under the consideration of the government. The Dairy Development Department has taken steps and will come up with a decision after examining the legal aspects.

In MILMA, hitherto, no such priorities were offered to the children of dairy farmers. However, reservations have been made for employees of dairy cooperative societies. The Malabar Milma Management Committee asserted their claim and made a strong appeal for reform as they said MILMA turned into such a sprawling business cooperation with the sweat of many such dairy farmers.

If implemented in Malabar, it will pave the way for implementation in Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram regional unions as well. In Malabar Milma, children of dairy farmers are given preference for temporary jobs such as plant attendants

However, the authorities won't comprise the educational qualification required for each post. Candidate's ability or professionalism along with a written test will be thoroughly valued. It is proposed to give weightage of five marks to children of dairy farmers over other candidates. A decision will be taken within two months on the file under consideration by the department.
