HYDERABAD: More than 3000 people were caught drunk driving in Hyderabad on New Year's night. Police said that most of them were caught between 1 am and 4 am on New Year's night. Among these, more than 2400 cases were reported in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Most of the people booked for drunk driving on New Year's Eve were two-wheeler commuters. Police officials said that the licenses of those caught drunk driving were sent to the Road Transport Authority for suspension under the Motor Vehicle Act, of 1988.
The Hyderabad police had taken special measures to catch drunk drivers. Barricades were erected across the city by 8 in the morning. Authorities said that they were able to avoid accidents by taking strict measures.
