Lawyer shot dead by security guard during New Year celebrations

VARANASI: A lawyer named Raghavendra Singh was fatally shot by security guard Hardendu Shekhar Tripathi during New Year celebrations in Lalpur-Pandepur police station limits, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on Sunday night when Raghavendra and his friends were gathered in a field to mark the occasion. Gaurav Singh, a friend of Raghavendra and owner of a security agency was also present at the celebration.

Shekhar, accompanied by Gaurav Singh joined the celebration. Raghavendra reportedly made derogatory remarks about Shekhar's caste during the festivities. Enraged by the insult, Shekhar shot Raghavendra with a gun he had in his possession. Despite immediate efforts to rush Raghavendra to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, police arrested Shekhar and seized the weapon used in the shooting. An ongoing investigation by the authorities is underway into the tragic event.
