TEHRAN: Iran was shocked by a powerful double explosion. Today, which is the death anniversary of Army General Qassem Soleimani, many people have come to pay their respects to him. Meanwhile, there were two very powerful explosions. It is reported that 73 people died and more than 170 people were injured in the incident. Iran blamed the incident as a terrorist attack. The tomb of Qassem Soleimani, who was the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, is near the Saheb Al-Zaman Mosque in Kerman, southern Iran. This is where the first explosion took place. Eyewitnesses stated that the second explosion took place in the mosque.
It is still unclear what caused the explosion. Some have suggested that the gas cylinders exploded, but this too is not certain. The explosions were about 15 minutes apart. Qassem Soleimani was a major general in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. On January 3, 2020, Quaseem was killed in a US drone attack outside Baghdad airport in Iraq. The Quds Force, led by Qassem Soleimani, has been fighting against the Islamic State in Iraq and supporting President Bashar al-Assad in Syria's civil war.
